Monday meandered in with the languid grace of a Vietnamese summer morning. Shiqin, a casualty of the previous evening's culinary adventure, remained ensconced in our chalet, her well-being demanding solitude. The five of us – Raymond, Irene, Ethan, Yit Peng, and myself – embarked on a breakfast odyssey to SOLARE, the resort's answer to a satisfying start to the day. The well-oiled system of electric buggies, a testament to the Marriott's commitment to effortless luxury, whisked us from our doorstep to the lobby, and then onwards to our gastronomic destination. Here, as with all our Vietnamese dining experiences so far, the buffet unfolded like a symphony of flavors, a delectable marriage of Vietnamese and international cuisine. Shiqin, the day’s late riser, materialized ten minutes before the restaurant's closing song, joining us in a celebration of noodles and an eclectic assortment of dishes.
Chillax Spa, our next port of call, beckoned with the promise of pampering. Six eager therapists awaited, their deft hands poised to revive our sun-kissed bodies with a two-hour massage session. For those bearing the telltale marks of yesterday's beach exposure, the allure of the aloe vera treatment, promising to soothe and refresh, proved irresistible. The massage itself, a blissful experience, was nonetheless a testament to the therapists' relative inexperience.
Back at the Marriott's lobby, Yit Peng embarked on a quest for a missing straw hat, a cherished accessory adorned with a black ribbon. A disquieting tale unfolded – a staff member, apparently overcome by a misplaced sense of ownership, had appropriated the hat for personal use.
The concept of "finders keepers" seemed to have taken on a peculiar interpretation in this instance. However, a promise of its return by 1:30 pm, coinciding with the staff's return from their break, offered a glimmer of hope. Thankfully, by 4 pm, the case of the missing hat was closed, the errant accessory returned to its rightful owner. The mystery, while minor, served as a reminder of the cultural nuances that pepper any travel experience. Our Nha Trang adventure, its tapestry woven with moments of relaxation, unexpected discoveries, and the occasional glitch, continued to unfold.
